 SURA COAT Coatings

The SURA-Coat® technology is a specially developed anodizing process. It is based on plasma chemical principles and employs an electrical discharge effect. By high voltage in the bath with watery electrolytes, where the substrate material is in anodic contact with aluminum, titanium, - and magnesium alloys, ceramic layers are produced. These layers consist mainly of:
  • Oxidic and hydroxidic compounds of the substrate
  • as well as oxidic compounds from the electrolyte particles
This produces the following coat properties:
  • Process related micro porous surface structure, appears as silky matt
  • The possibility to produce functional black surfaces for aluminum, titanium and magnesium
  • Long-term stability of the coat properties by working temperatures up to 300°C and simultaneous UV exposure
  • Suitability as primer for coating or adhesion (adhesive strength values up to 22Mpa depending on adhesive)
  • Good accuracy to gage of the coated substrate through defined application from approx. 3mm (at 5mm total thickness)
  • Low susceptibility to roughness values
Common examples of application
  • High thermally subjected components in optical instrumentation technology
  • Laser beam resistant absorption coatings
  • UV light resistant coatings
